Dikshit inaugurates global youth meet
New Delhi, Delhi
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday inaugurated a two-day
international preparatory meet of the Non-Aligned Students and Youth Movements(NASYM) here.
The meet, being attended by
delegates and diplomats from over 10 countries, would discuss the impact
of terrorism on civilisation.
"Terrorism has to be understood
as a challenge to change the mindset. It is like a snake... you do not
know when it can come and bite you," said Dikshit while addressing the
function here.
NASYM chairman Subhash Chowdhary
said what was alarming is the way vulnerable youth and students were
being drafted for heinous acts like terrorism.
"The recent lethal Mumbai
attacks were a shocker to the world and what was alarming is that so
many young people mostly carried out these attacks," he said.
"I am sure that the
international preparatory meet will address these larger issues, which
will delve into the core of the problems and suggest measures that could
make this world a safer place to live," he added.
